Light as an urban lampshade
The challenge
To create an urban light fixture where the LED source is completely shielded from direct view — ensuring zero glare — while providing highly efficient and uniform light distribution in diverse and demanding urban environments.
The design response
Abatjhur solves this challenge through its very name: an architectural lampshade that completely envelops the light source and redistributes light via reflection. The result is an object with clean lines and a soft visual presence by day, combined with maximum lighting efficiency by night. Installed in Lyon, Lille, at the CNIT, and at the Cité des Sciences, Abatjhur has also become a benchmark for large indoor space lighting.
