The challenge
Gantois, a specialist in 3D woven stainless steel wire, was looking for a demonstrator capable of revealing the full formal and structural potential of its technology — an object that would serve as both a technical demonstration and a standalone design proposition.
The design response
An ultra-lightweight lounge chair where the 3D woven stainless steel wire surface simultaneously forms the seat, backrest, and sides. The minimal steel base leaves full visibility to the material. The visual and physical lightness of the whole piece reveals what 3D weaving can achieve where no other material could. Full conception and design mission up to 3D definition and total engineering of the product.
