Services facility. The first service and well-being areas on the Paris metro. A strategic project for the RATP, these facilities allow passengers to take a break, learn, have a drink or catch up on the news. Around a central ‘beacon’ carrying the screen-based services such as videophones, internet access and real-time traffic information, a ribbon wall carries the service offerings of partners such as La Poste, France Télécom and Selecta. A “window on the city” brings live pictures from surface level, so passengers can tell whether it is still light, or raining. Other spaces will be introduced to provide internet training, massages, and so on.
